Sewer System goes on-line
On July 15, 2003, Provincetown's sewer system went on-line, with a celebratory "first flush" at 9 a.m. at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, site of the Old Burn Dump. This event came 16 months after the March 26, 2002 groundbreaking. Since then, we have completed work on the treatment plant, the effluent disposal beds and the central vacuum station, and have laid all main sewer pipes. This summer, the sewer will serve up to 60 properties during the plant's start-up period. The project is on schedule and we look forward to connecting the remaining 400 properties during the coming off-season.
