Provincetown's Local Room Tax Payment Up By 7.79% between FY 2001 and FY 2002. Provincetown's total of quarterly room tax payments from the Commonwealth increased by 7.79% between FY 2001 and FY 2002. At the end of each quarter, the Town receives from the State the amount collected for the 4% room tax in Provincetown during the prior quarter. [see note, below]. The four such payments received in FY 2001 totaled $909,871—an increase of 7.79% from FY 2002’s total of $844,148.

For the 45% of local room tax proceeds deposited in the Tourism Fund pursuant to Chapter 178 of the Acts of 1996, this means that a total of $409,442 was received in FY 2002, compared to $379,867 in FY 2001. Fiscal Year 2003 Quarterly Payments Up 14.43% in the First Quarter; Up 3.78% in the Second. Provincetown's December 2002 quarterly payment from the Commonwealth increased by 3.78% over the same quarter last year. That quarterly payment of $415,614-- which reflects activity during the months of July, August and September 2002-- was a $14,435 increase above the $401,179 received in December 2001. The September 2002 quarterly payment from the Commonwealth had increased by 14.43% over the same quarter last year. That quarterly payment of $428,351-- which reflects activity during the months of April, May, and June 2002 -- was a $54,026 increase above the $374,325 received in September 2001.

An
act establishing a tourism fund for the Town of Provincetown |
Section 1. There is hereby established in the town of Provincetown a tourism fund to receive revenue under section 3A of chapter 64G, as set forth in section two of this act; and said town may appropriate monies in said fund to market, beautify, and enhance tourism in the town of Provincetown. Section 2. Twenty-five percent of the excise collected under section 3A of chapter 64G of the General Laws by the town of Provincetown for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997 shall be credited to the tourism fund, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1998, thirty-five percent; and for the each succeeding fiscal year, forty-five percent |
