Provincetown Stars Music CD

MUSIC CD SUPPORTS FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS
The Provincetown Tourism Office has begun a new initiative both to share the musical talent of Cape Cod and to fund Provincetown's Fourth of July Fireworks. The first volume of "Provincetown Stars" will be sold with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Town of Provincetown Fourth of July Fireworks Gift Fund. Produced by Provincetown resident and musical impresario Bart Weisman and funded by the Tourism Fund, each musician has generously donated their song for this project.

The Board of Selectmen voted on March 27, 1995 to establish a special gift fund pursuant to MGL C.44,s.53A "for the annual Fourth of July Fireworks display." Donations to this Fund will only be used for Fourth of July fireworks celebrations. Monies can only be expended from a gift fund by vote of the Board of Selectmen for the purposes for which the fund was established.

FIREWORKS TASK FORCE

On Monday, March 13, 2006, the Board of Selectmen had unanimously voted to form a Fireworks Task Force open to the public, but at a minimum, to include representatives from the Visitor Services Board, the Provincetown Business Guild, Provincetown Chamber of Commerce, Fire/Rescue, Police, Public Works, and Outer Cape Health Services, to meet to discuss fireworks and to bring a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen.

On July 10, 2006-- following the successful celebration on July 4, 2006-- the Board of Selectmen voted to continue the Fireworks Task Force, with its mission to include fireworks, Fourth of July celebration, and fundraising activities.
