| Town staff recently updated the inventory of affordable units-- last updated
by the Commonwealth as of July 1, 1997, when it reported that 76-- or 3.19%--
of Provincetown's 2,385 year-round housing units were affordable. Our updated
analysis finds that 155 housing units-- or 6.5% of the year-round total--
will be able to be classified as "affordable." 50 of these units-- owned
by the Housing Authority-- are already exempt from taxation. The remaining
105 would be eligible for the property tax exemption proposed in STM Article
9. These include 26 units receiving MCDBG housing rehab loans, and 57 affordable
units thus far approved by the Provincetown Housing Partnership under the
growth management by-law. |
