Provincetown Remembers. Over 1,000 people participated in Provincetown's first 9-11 observance on Friday, September 14, 2001, the Day of Prayer and Remembrance. Click for details

7:30 PM     Audience members from the Outer Cape Chorale September 11 Commemorative Concert and Members of the community will form a procession from Town Hall. ~ Bagpiper David Weeda will lead the Procession to the Bas Relief

7:35 PM    Presentation of Colors Provincetown Coast Guard Station

7:40 PM    Pledge of Allegiance ~ led by Mary-Jo Avellar, Chairman, Board of Selectmen

7:45 PM   God Bless America ~ sung by Cheryl Meads

7:50 PM    Reading of the Policemen’s Prayer by Police Sergeant Carrie Benjamin

7:55 PM    Members of the Board of Selectmen will light Four Candles-- One for each plane-- and a Fifth Candle--“Keep The Flame of Liberty Alive” (Selectmen will place an American Flag at the base of each candle)       

8:00 PM    Reading of the Fireman’s Prayer by FirefighterRachel Peters

8:05 PM   “National Anthem~ sung by Cheryl Meads

8:10 PM   21 Gun Salute ~ by 7 members of the Provincetown VFW

8:15 PM   TAPS ~ by William Evaul

 

American Flags were given to the first 200 participants at the Bas Relief, as they arrived for the ceremony
