Mosquito Control Information

All swamps in Provincetown have been treated (Shank Painter, Snail

Road, Holiday Inn, behind Funeral Home, Cape Colony Motel, Howland

Street, Duncan Street, Campground, Pilgrim Heights, gulls Nest Motel, to name a few).  Those sites have been treated every 10 days since April and will continue to treat until October.

We also have been checking and treating the wetlands around the airport

on a regular basis since April.  The Seashore has requested that we not

treat a portion of the airport area, because of the presence of the

spade foot toad.  We will continue to monitor this area and if we have

problems we will discuss potential solutions with the Cape Cod National

Seashore.

The Cape Cod National Seashore does not do any control of native insects within their boundaries.  This includes mosquitoes.

If a resident has a mosquito problem, they may call the Cape Cod

Mosquito Control Project at 508-775-1510 during the day between 6:30 AM

and 3:00 PM after June 18th.  Currently we are on our winter schedule so the hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

The citizens should be reminded that mosquitoes will lay their eggs

in any standing water.  Anything holding water (buckets, tires, boats,

tarps, etc.) should be dumped;  bird baths should have water changed daily.
