Provincetown  Water &  Sewer Board Meeting   

Thursday, October 24, 2002     5 P.M.

Present: Jon Sinaiko, Lucille Plante, Terry Siegel, Anne Lord

      Lou Brigante, W&S Superintendent ; Kathy Meads, W&S

    Palmer,Truro Water Resources Oversight Committee

 

Chair Jon Sinaiko opened the meeting.

1. Approval of  minutes postponed until next meeting.

 

2. Final editing of Water & Sewer Board's Goals and Objectives  - Motion to accept them as corrected, passed unanimously 4-0-0

 

3. The Board signed a letter of congratulations to George Huefelder on his new position at the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment.

 

4. Lou Brigante presented an update on water usage over a 10 year period.

 

5. Gary Palmer informed us that he is the Chair of the new Water Resources Oversight Committee in Truro  and that he is looking forward to keeping channels of communication open between Provincetown and Truro.

 

6. Question about the role of the Water &  Sewer  Board in the process of reviewing Change Orders, pertaining  to sewer construction contracts, which go before the Board of Selectmen.

 

7. Discussion concerning the uncertainty of how the Rt 6 Surplus Land will eventually be used led to the following motion by L. Plante: Motion to defer further planning and development of water and sewer

services to the area known as Surplus State Property Along Route 6

until a decision has been made regarding development of said area.

Motion passed unanimously  4-0-0

 

8. Discussion concerning the uncertainty of future water supplies, in spite of concentrated efforts to secure more sources, led to the following motion by T. Siegel:  Motion that the Provincetown Water &

Sewer recommends that before consideration be given to new housing construction in the area known as the Mass. Highway Conveyance of Surplus Land  in the Route 6 Corridor, input from both the Water &

Sewer of Provincetown and the Water Resource Oversight Committee of Truro be given regarding such construction's impact on the area's water resources.

Motion passed unanimously  4-0-0

 

9. Discussion to meet regularly on the 3rd Thursday of each month with other meetings as needed.

 

10. Motion to adjourn(6:15) by L. Plante, seconded by T. Siegel,

passed unanimously.
