Provincetown Water and Sewer Board            

Minutes of August 15, 2002.

                        5:00 p.m.

 

The Provincetown Water and Sewer Board was called to order by acting Chairman Jonathan Sinaiko.  Present were: Board members, Anne Lord, Sacha Richter, and  Lucille Plante. Also in attendance were D.P.W. Director Dave Guerten, Administrative assistant, Kathy Meads, Albert Robinson, Ted Bailey, sewer resident engineer,  Gary Williams, M&E project representative, and Mark White, EPG.  Others present were Jon Van Ryder, Ian McMillan and Alix Ritchie.

 

 

Mark White made a report on some ways the town might want to consider as far as looking for new sources of water.  He spoke in some length on the topic of desalinization of water as a possible resource.

 

Next order of business was the issue of the Van Ryder water leak, in which it was, not determined how the leak came to be.  The Board decided to issue the 500% abatement rule and the Van Ryder’s were billed accordingly. Anne made the motion to apply the abatement rule, Sacha seconded it, and the vote was 4-0.

 

David Guerten made a report on the SCADA system.  David Guerten reported that it is running fine.

 

Gary Williams reported that there has been a security fence put in place around the sewage treatment plant and the things are going on schedule. 

 

Ian McMillan and Alix Ritchie made public statements.  The water and sewer board could not address there concerns until their issues were first dealt with by the Health department.

 

Jonathan Sinaiko made a motion to adjourn and Anne Lord seconded the motion and the vote was 4-0.
