TOWN HALL AUDITORIUM

Chairman Lynne Davies convened the meeting at 6:04 PM noting the following attendees:

VSB members: Peter Bez, Vice Chairman; Lynne Davies, Chairman; Kathleen Fitzgerald; Laurel Guadazno; Michael Peregon, Rita “Hersh” Schwartz

VSB members absent: Mick Rudd (excused)

Other attendees: Bill Schneider, Acting Tourism Director

The following are meeting minutes, in brief.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Barbara Rushmore

Does not feel it’s right to limit grants with a dollar cap or cap on the number of years and cited the Year Rounder’s Festival as an example. She believes this event is a great draw for the Town and helps to increase the winter population.
Events, which are fundraisers, should not be disqualified for grants as to subsidize is to encourage.
Grants should not be done away with as the promotional opportunities that come to fruition as a result of these events would be missed.
Provincetown’s events, which are less than ordinary, should be kept alive as it’s a unique experience to visitors.

Ewa Nogeic

· Requests that the grant guidelines be very specific.

· Since her website (www.iamprovincetown.com) is not a “for profit” website, she questioned whether or not she should apply for a grant, and if not, would the VSB become a sponsor of her website.

Ms. Davies confirmed that the goal of the VSB is to stay true to their mission.

Website advertising was discussed. Ms. Nogeic confirmed her interest in having iamprovincetown.com linked from the VSB website.

Following the public comments, the VSB discussed the grant application process, including the grant application, grant guidelines, final report, and the timetable.

The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 7:20 PM.

Patricia Zur, founder of Long Point Studio and publisher of the Provincetown Art Guide with Fine Dining, submitted comments via email, which were received while the Public Hearing was underway. These comments are attached.
