Minutes from December 7th, 1999

Meeting called to order at 4:35 p.m. on December 7th at the Harbormaster’s office, McMillan Pier. Exofficiao Tony Jackett was present. Members Frank Foley, Michael Anderson, Dan Nataro and Sarah Robin were present.

Old Business

·       Recreational shellfish regulations, revised at the November 23rd meeting were emailed by Michael Anderson to Stephan at the Town Hall. Stephan sent an emailing confirming that minutes had been received.

·       Motion was made by Michael to request Town Clerk to notify Bob White that he is no longer on the Shellfish Committee and to thank him for all his help. Dan seconded motion. Motion carried uanimously.

New Business

 

·       A correction was made to minutes. At the last meeting, the committee okayed the purchase of 10 buckets, however, in the minutes it only stipulated 5. With this correction, motion was made by Michael to accept minutes. Dan seconded motion. Motion carried unanimously.

·       Motion was made by Dan to have Stephan Nofield, Town Clerk, come to January meeting to clarify “due process” in regards to commercial shellfish regulations. Michael seconded motion. . Motion carried uanimously.

·       Committee members comenced a general discussion of possible grant proposals for SEMAC minigrant program.Motion was made by Frank to  apply for funding from SEMAC for three separate projects to benefit the town and private shellfish growers. Possible projects are as follows:

·           Float system for subtidal aquaculture

·           Predator traps for moonsnails and crabs

·           Antifouling mesh effectiveness in Provincetown Harbor

·       Dan motioned to have next meeting on January 4th at 4:30. Michael seconded motion. Motion carried unanimously.

·       Dan motioned to adjourn meeting at 5:42 pm. Michael seconded motion. Motion carried unanimously.
