September 24, 2002 minutes of the Provincetown Shellfish Committee

Meeting called to order at 5:10p.m

Members present: Daniel Notaro, John Baldwin, Michael Anderson

Also in attendance: Tony Jackett(shellfish constable), Jesse Cartwright

Absent: Alex Brown-excused

Waived reading of the minutes due to the time span of the last meeting

 

Reading of the summer coorspondance by the shellfish constable:

Plans for opening the shellfish beds for the coming recreational season.

Projected opening is for October 27,2002

Planted over 300 bushels of quahogs this summer most on the west side of the breakwater.

Water quality and tissue samples will be completed soon.

John Baldwin’s sub-tital grant was approved.

Lowell Brundage’s grant approved.(Molley Benjamin’s old grant)

Oyster seed was put out at the end of the Johnson st. parking lot in A.D.P.I. bags estimate about 25 bags.

Discussed plan to colaborate with Barnstable County Extention Service for a video documentary of  recreational shellfishing and aquaculture throughout the county.

Shellfish licenses are on order. 250 ordered

 

New business: Jesse Cartwright’s application for the shellfish committee  Voting of officers  Maximum of 3 ideas for cultivation, environmental, or research related to    shellfishing and aquaculture for next year.

Motions: Michael Anderson motion to open the shellfish flats west side of the breakwater pending the outcome of the water and tissue samples.  unanimous
