Minutes of  July 29, 2008

 

Members Present:   Terese Nelson, Chairperson, Peter Grosso, Vice Chairperson, Debra Trovato,  and Shannon Patrick  (Kerry Adams excuses absence)

 

Others Present:  Jessica Waugh, Superintendent of Schools

 

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:25 P.M.

 

Public Comments:

None

 

Minutes: 

June 16, 2008 Minutes (Joint Meeting BOS) were discussed.  Peter Grosso made a motion to make the following correction:  Michelle Couture, Chairperson and Elaine Anderson, Vice Chairperson.  Seconded by Debra Trovato

So voted 3-0 (Shannon Patrick abstained)

 

Unfinished Business:

5.1  Agreement between town and school regarding: Allocation of expenditures.  The committee discussed and asked what percentage of town employees are school employees.  The answer will be researched and this item will be placed on the next Agenda.

 

5.2  Financial Statement was generally discussed no motion or vote taken.

 

New Business:

The committee discussed re-organizing the length of the regular school committee meetings.  It was proposed to have a five minute break after one hour of meeting.  It was also proposed the entire meeting would not exceed two hours.

 

The committee asked the Superintendent to review current PSC policies on:  Responding to letters to the editors (in the local paper) regarding school matters.  And, use of cell phones, and text messaging during school committee meetings.

 

Meeting adjourned at 5:40 P.M.
