Minutes of  September 27, 2007

 

Members Present: Terese Nelson (Chair), Peter Grosso (Vice Chair), Shannon Patrick,  Debra Trovato arrived at 4:25 P.M.,   Absent:  Kerry Adams

 

Others Present: Jessica Waugh, Superintendent of Schools,  Dr. Floriano Pavão, School Principal,  Sallie Tighe,  PAE  President,  Donna O’Brien  Lead School Nurse,  Dr. Joely Edwards, Marcia Miriam, School Nurse and Others

 

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:05 P.M.

 

Public Comments:

None

 

Peter Grosso made a motion to move item 7.2 VMES Foreign Language Discussion 

to the beginning of  the  meeting.  Seconded by Shannon Patrick So voted 4-0

School parent Michael Boise made a presentation of parent concerns around d this matter.  It was agreed Mr. Boise will meet with Superintendent Waugh for further discussion and consideration.

 

Minutes:

December 12, 2006 (joint meeting BOS), April 24, 2007, August 21, 2007, September 22, 2007 were all tabled on a Motion made by Peter Grosso.  Seconded by Terese Nelson

So voted 4-0

 

Superintendent’s Update:

  Supt. Waugh introduced Linda Koelbel, the newly appointed Special Education Director for the district.

  Supt. Waugh reviewed both the VMES and PHS Open Houses which were both

extremely successful.

  Supt. Waugh discussed the various issues and matters for review by the Attendance Committee.

 

6.  Unfinished Business:

            6.1  The committee reviewed the various quotes submitted to rectify the

            Problem with the stairs between the schools.  No motions or votes taken

            But it was agreed Mr. Grosso would personally take a look at the deteriorating stairs.

 

7.  New Business:

            7.1  Shannon Patrick made her presentation of the purposes and values of the Cape Cod Cares for the Troops group.   Members of the group, John Lambrou and Dylan DeSilva, also presented the committee with the activities and program planned for early December.  The group will be using the VMES Multi-purpose Room and Motta Field.

 

At 5:40 P.M. on a roll call vote it was agreed to go into Executive Session for the purposes of discussion with respect to Non-Union Contracts and discussion with respect to Collective Bargaining.  It was also agreed to not to return to regular session for the purpose of adjournment.
