Minutes of January 23, 2007

Members Present: Terese Nelson (Chair), Peter Grosso (Vice Chairman), Debra Trovato, Burton Wolfman (Secretary), and Shannon Patrick

Student Representatives: Pele Berg and Jasmine Hadley excused.

Others Present: Jessica Waugh, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Floriano Pavão, School Principal, Sallie Tighe, PAE President, Elizabeth Francis, Alma Welsh, Carol D’Amico, Lisa Kiefer, Candy Silva, Karen Silva, Lorie Welch, Ruth Gilbert, Helena Ferreira, and Others

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:02 P.M.

Chairperson Nelson noted the only item on the agenda was the Public Hearing on the

proposed FY-08 School Budget.

Superindentent Waugh read a statement titled Fiscal Rationale and Budget Policy and went on to explain the budgetary changes and proposed reductions in force.

Public Hearing attendees and teaching staff entered into discussions on the possible impacts on programs and curriculum due to proposed budget changes. Considerable attention was devoted to the development of an academy instructional model.

At the close of the discussion Peter Grosso made a motion to approve the proposed

FY-08 School Budget as submitted. Deb Trovato seconded. It was so voted 5-0

The Committee adjourned at 5.05 P.M.
