Minutes of June 6, 2006

Members Present: Terese Nelson, Chair, Burton Wolfman, Clerk, Peter Grosso, (Vice Chair), Shannon Patrick, and Debra Trovato,

Also in Attendance: Janice Lachowetz, Superintendent of Schools, Jessica Waugh, Curriculum Coordinator, Anthony Teso, VMES Principal/DSS, and Edward Boxer, PHS Principal, Jan Williams

The Chair called the meeting order at 6:03 P.M.

Dr. Cheryl Andrews called the Board of Selectmen to order and Gary Delius, Chair called the Finance Committee to order.

Jan Williams gave a summary report of the Futures Conference. Members of the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee commented on the importance of the conference and need to continue dialogue. The discussion proceeded to talk about the scope and cost of the Williams proposal.

David Nicolau made a motion that the Board of Selectmen vote to agree to fund 50% of the cost of this school study as proposed by Jan Williams from the town side of the budget and to direct the Town Manager to make that happen. Seconded by Richard Olsen. So voted 4-0.

The joint meeting session concluded to allow the School Committee to continue to discuss the scope and cost of the proposed study.

The School Committee reconvened at 8:10PM

Burt Wolfman moved that dialogue with Jan Williams continue at the next posted school committee meeting which is on June 7, 2006, at 8:30A.M.. Peter Grosso seconded the motion. It was so voted 5-0.

The Committee adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
