Minutes of March 2 ,2006

Members Present: Terese Nelson (Chairperson), Peter Grosso (Vice Chair), Debra Trovato, Burton Wolfman ( Secretary), and Molly Perdue

Also in attendance: Janice K. Lachowetz, Superintendent of Schools, Anthony Teso, VMES Principal/DSS, Edward Boxer, PHS Principal, and Jessica Waugh, Curriculum Coordinator

The Chair called the meeting to order 11.08 A.M. following roll call of members.

Committee began discussion of Fiscal Year 07 Operating Budget to determine which level of funding should be placed on the Town Warrant. The first option is the 2.6% originally voted, would require an over-ride vote, or a revised level funded budget. After considerable discussion the following votes were taken

Peter Grosso made a motion that the Committee support the 2.6% Budget increase. Debra Trovato seconded the motion. Motion did not carry Vote 2 In favor -3 Opposed.

Molly Perdue made a motion that the Committee put forward a FY-07 level funded budget. BurtWolfman seconded the motion. The motion was so voted 5-0

Debra Trovato made a motion that the Committee submit an Article on the Town Warrant that an independent audit of the Town’s finances be conducted reviewing the last five years. Peter Grosso seconded the motion. So voted 5-0

The Chair asked that Officer Warren Tobias be invited to the April 2006 Committee meeting to discuss his concerns regarding safety at the VMES.

Committee adjourned at 12.20 P.M.
