Minutes of January 15th , 2008

 

Members Present:  Treg Kaeselau, Bronwyn Malicoat, Cass Benson, and David Mazochi

Susan Cook    Members Absent:    Also in attendance: Tracy Trewhella, Recreation Director  Brandon Motta Assistant Recreation Director.

 

Call to order:  6:00 pm

 

Public Comment:  no public comment

 

Directors Report:  

Budget: Tracy presented the draft budget submitted to the town manager and will present it to the selectmen on Wednesday 1/23 at 6pm. Susan will try to attend with her.

Kitchen appliances: a parent asked if new appliances could be purchased and offered to help find funding.

Vacation program well attended, plans to have program again in February and April

Program updates and calendar, members given January calendar.

 

Assistant Directors Report:

Teen Night, not going so well when it is here, but seems to be very popular if a field trip is offered. Board suggested making trips a weekly event, movies in Wellfleet, trips to the mall etc.

Ski Trip, February 29-March 2, to Smugglers Notch in Vermont.  Susan Avellar and Lee Ciliberto will help chaperone, David might be able to as well, he will get back to Brandon.  Cost is 300.00 with rentals, 250.00 without. Includes transportation, lodging, 2 breakfasts and dinner at the lodge, and lift tickets

Basketball Clinic, Wins for Life did a basketball clinic here on January 8th, it was well attended and a positive experience.

  

Old Business:  David and Mike have yet to coordinate a time to meet and review the gym, Bronwyn will give David’s phone number to Mike for them to arrange a mutually agreeable time.

 

New Business   Public playgrounds, need lots of work, safety is key.  The equipment is antiquated, and each should have all the sand removed and some type of handicap access built.  Tracy is meeting with O’Brien and Sons to find out what kind of a plan can be put together.
