Provincetown Recreation Commission

May 15, 2006

In attendance: Treg Kaeselau, Robert Cahill, Jill Macara, and Tracy Roderick Asst. Director.

Meeting called to order: 6:15pm

Public Comment:

Carl Roach and Jamie McNulty came seeking support of the recreation commission to once again use the original track location for Cape Tip Motorcross.

Burt Wolfman proposed combining the recreation director and the athletic director, and the assistant director and the adult education coordinator.   4 jobs, 2 people.  Commission amenable as long as the community center is not on the table, i.e. combining the positions will not cause the community center to be closed down.   Jill Macara agreed to attend the BOS/SC meeting on May 23rd at 4:00 in Town Hall.

Minutes:  Tracy Roderick reported all previously approved commission minutes are updated and posted on the website.

Baseball:   Update given regarding schedules, games, and umpires.

Summer program:  Commission voted 3-0 to increase the summer fees.  $60.00 for the summer, for students of VMES and students sent elsewhere from VMES via school choice.  $60.00 per week for all others.   The commission discussed increasing the fee gradually each year.   Also the commission voted 3-0 to lower the entrance age to 5 years by July 1st, 2006.

Old Business:  Skate park: needs sign posting all the adopted rules, and a bike rack.

New Business:  Program Proposal “Go Outside and Play” and adult work out program administered by 2 local professional trainers, using the West End playground and its equipment.  Vote 3-0 to allow use of the playground and equipment

Motion to adjourn: Jill Macara, send Robert Cahill.  Meeting adjourned 7:15pm
