Meeting Minutes of

Thursday, March 02, 2006

Attendees: Lee Ash (Chair), John Baldwin, Len Clingham and George Hitchcock

Excused Absence: Chip Bradish

Other Attendees: Rex McKinsey (Pier Manager) and John Davidson (Administrative Assistant)

Meeting Called to order @ 4:00 by Lee Ash

Lee Ash requested that Rex McKinsey present the options for the repairs to the South Floating Docks

Option A: Fixed Walkway to Main Walkway

Option B:  Move Gangway to Approach Pier Walkway (Quick Fix)

Additional Options provided by fisherman did not pan out.

Approval for any expenditure over $50, 000 must be approved by the BoS.

John Baldwin wanted to know why the gangway was not lifted (hoisted) during the storm.

Rex explained that the electrical hook ups prevented such action being taken.

John Baldwin: What kind of damage to the gangway?

Rex McKinsey explained the damage caused by the storm was due to twisting action thus damaging the connection of the gangway to the pier (weld points broken).  The twisting action of the two piers has caused damage to both floats.

A general discussion of the options ensued.

George Hitchcock presented a third Option to the board that is similar to Option B but using local contractors.

A discussion of the piling replacement on the fixed piers followed.

The board discussed that these types of capital outlays for maintenance and repairs due to design flaws should be brought to the attention of the BoS and that these repairs interfere with the PPPC’s mission of economic development.

A motion was made that the board research local contractors for the skyway option to the south to the south floating dock.  Similar to Option A above.
