Emergency Meeting Minutes of

Thursday, October 13, 2005

 

 

Present: Paul DeRuyter, Chair, Lee Ash, John Baldwin, Chip Bradish and George Hitchcock

Other Attendees: Rex McKinsey, Pier Manager, John Davidson, PPPC Admin

 

Paul DeRuyter called the meeting to order at 4:00PM.

Director’s Statements

 

John Baldwin: Had no statement to make.

 

George Hitchcock:  Stated that it was a mistake not hiring a night watchman (referring to the two boats sinking).  Attended the Flex Route Meeting with Rex.  The bus is scheduled to leave Ptown @ 6 am and arrive in Orleans @9:30 am (a 40 minute ride in .3.5 hours).  He’s going to keep an eye on what they are intending to due in reference to any type of structure and activities at the MPL to ensure that the PPPC’s interests are taking into consideration and that none of our activities are duplicated.  Was pleased to announce that the ice machine delivery system was up and running putting emphasis on the was part of that statement.  There are still a few kinks to be worked out before the system is operational.

 

Lee Ash: Met with Rex McKinsey and John Davidson to plan the outline/direction to be taken during the all day meeting of 10/24/05.  Mentioned the night watchman position as well and chose to refrain from going any deeper into the issue.

 

Chip Bradish: Had no statement to make.

 

Paul De Ruyter: Stated that he was satisfied with the harbormaster staff in regards to the handling of the two boats that sank at the pier and that they were doing what they were supposed to be doing in regards to the situation at hand.  He also commended the harbormaster staff on the smooth interaction that occurred between the Coast Guard and the Department of Public Works in regards to the oil spill in the harbor.  He also stated that he wants to make sure that the PPPC Board deliver a master plan from the all day work session.

 

A motion was made the PPPC go into an Executive Session for the purpose of discussing litigation and real estate negotiations.
