The committee met for a walk-through/site inspection on the Shankpainter property being purchased with Landbank funds.

The meeting was called to order at 6:25 PM in the Caucus hall at Town Hall

Gordon indicated that he will probably be leaving the area in about 90 days.

Shankpainter Pond Uplands Management Plan development:
Ideas: walking paths (concern is to get professional help in laying out paths)
a) hardened soil
b) raised boardwalk
c) use the existing natural paths
 

Signage to highlight different types of vegetation

Viewing sites off the paths

Have a short round trip along with longer walks

Re-vegetate the road-cut--put back some of the sand(alter the grade)

Celine said the Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trust could help with the plan; Americorp could help with the planting

We need to establish what we want.

Use the Foss Woods management plan as a take-off point for a plan for Shankpainter--Celine will get copies.

Need to stop the degradation now before worrying about the rest of the plan. There is a concern especially about the angle of
repose or sand in cuts.
Stabilize the deep cut in the road and basin. Jute netting over straw?/

Need to establish access to the Landbank Funds--when, how much and how it can be used for management.

7:25 to 7:30 Executive Session to discuss specific land prices.
