can be viewed during regular office hours, Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in
the Office of the Town Clerk, 260 Commercial St. Provincetown, MA 02657.
Called to order at 6:10PM by Celine Gandolfo. Also Present:
Robin Evans, Barbara Sullivan, Hatty Fitts and Mark Adams from the Cape Cod
National Seashore. Fred arrives at 6;20 PM Also present are Mark Robinson and
Jeff Thibodeau from the Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trust.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Shankpainter
Management Plan
Mark Robinson and Jeff Thibodeau ( holds a masters degree
from Cornell in Landscape Architecture) toured the property with Celine
Gandolfo.
Important note: the $250,000.00 in Grant money from the
Self-help program from the Conservation Services will not be released until we
have a sufficient management plan.
Mark brought the Draft plan. Draft will need to be reviewed
by all parties involved and approved.
Jeff walked the Committee through the draft Plan:
Jeff pointed out that by state regulations and their setback
requirements, no hunting would be allowed (except in a very small area) It
would make sense to close the rest of the area.
Also important issue to address is to keep motor bikes out
of the area--too fragile and easily damaged.
Motion by Hatty Walker Fitts to have Mark Robinson to
continue finalizing the Management Plan. He will take all comments and put them
into a final report. @nd by Barbara Sullivan. All in Favor: Robin Evans, Celine
Gandolfo, Barbara Sullivan, Hatty walker Fitts, Fred Berger
Mark Robinson gave a copy of the digitalized map of the
different habitat types in the area as of the early 90's.
Mark Adams gave the Committee some copies of the CCNS maps
of the Shankpainter area.
7:30 PM presenters left meeting.
Acquisition updates:
Celine reported on going before the Selectpersons for the
approval of an appraisal for the Locke Property.
Consensus of the Committee is to concentrate on the Locke,
Sateriale and the Truro Water Property to bring something on the properties to
Town Meeting. Locke Property/Bohm Heights is part of a contiguous greenway
stretching from Foss Woods.
The Committee agreed they would keep the Selectman up to
date and meet with them when appropriate. Will meet the night before the next
Selectmans meeting.
Budget-Celine reported that Keith Bergman, our Town Manager
indicated that this committee has no need for a budget!
Next meeting set for Monday, January 17 at 7:00PM
Meeting adjourned at 8:40PM
