OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE MEETING
February 11, 2005
Meeting called to order: 3:30PM
Members present: Ron, Steve, Robin, Celine.
Shankpainter update
Ron moved that the FY 2005 funds in the amount of $9,417.00, allocated to the Open Space committee for maintenance of land bank purchased property, be utilized for thepartial implementation of the Shank Painter Pond Wildlife Sanctuary management plan this fiscal year, specifically for the following items: Parking area for 5 cars; observation deck; revegetation; main trail - handicapped accessible; auxiliary trails; signs; benches; entrance gate/posts; bicycle racks; trash recepticles. Motion put forth by Ron reviewed. After two past meetings of 'subcommittee,' decision to keep priorities flexible relative to available funding. Celine second. Vote unanimous. RRW as Historic Trial
Goal of designation of railroad-right-of-way as historic pathway discussed. Decision to bring this idea and all other historic info regarding right-of-way to Historic Commission in next two weeks prior to Town Meeting.
Idea would continue to allow prescriptive rights of landowners to travel right-of-way.
