TOWN OF PROVINCETOWN, OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE

Minutes for January 4, 2002

The Meeting of January 4, 2002 was called to order at 10:20 A.M. by Celine Gandolpho, Co-Chair. Also present were Robin Evans, Hatty Walker Fitts and Fred Berger. Miriam Collinson was absent due to vacation.

1) The map of the Town of Provincetown was spread out and used for a discussion of possible purchases and/or working with the owners to get Conservation Restrictions placed on key pieces of land. There is approximately $700,000 left in the Land Bank fund for future purchases. It was decided that the areas to give further study to would be that off Bradford Street Extension and around Shank Painter Pond.

2) A motion was made by Hatty Walker Fitts, seconded by Fred Berger, to authorize Robin Evans to write a letter to the MHP re. the Committee’s concern about the land transfer of 238 acres to the Town without conservation restrictions in place. The Committee has worked hard to create a continuous Greenway and would not like to see that interrupted with development. It was agreed that the letter would be circulated to the Committee Members for comment prior to the letter being mailed out.

3) The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at 2:00 PM.
