Minutes of Meeting December 5, 2005

Joint Meeting with the Board of Selectmen held at Judge Welsh Hearing Room, Town Hall, 260 Commercial St.

Members Present: Library Board: Marcia Fair, Chair; Mick Rudd, Vice- Chair, C.J. Noyes, Secretary, Paul Benatti.

Board of Selectmen: Dr. Cheryl Andrews, Chair, Sarah Peake, Vice Chair, Micjele Couture, David nicolau, and Richard Olsen.

Others Present:  Keith Bergman, Town Manager, Vernon Porter, Secretary. Library Director Debra DeJonker-Berry could not attend due to illness.

Members of the Public: Where present

Call to Order: Dr. Andrews called the meeting to order at 5:45pm

Public Statements: There was none.

Agenda: The Library Board requested the meeting with the Selectmen to fill the vacancy left when Sandra Fay resigned on November 7, 2005. Marcia Fair read a statement recommending that applicant Cathleen Metzger be appointed to fill that seat. for the period of 5 months, or until the 2006 election, when she will be free to run for the balance of the three-year term if she chooses. The term will end in May , 2007.

Dr. Andrews said that the vacancy had been advertised in du coarse. After giving members of her Board a chance to ask questions of the applicant : she asked if there was a motion.

MOTION: Michele Couture moved and Sarah Peake seconded the motion to fill the vacant Library Board seat by appointing Cathleen Metzger. This was a joint vote of both Boards The vote was 9-0 in

favor.

Adjournment: The meeting was closed at 5:50 pm
