Minutes of Meeting February 28, 2005

Meeting held at Provincetown Public Library, 330 Commercial St.

 

Members Present:             James Cole, Chair; Vice-Chair; C.J. Noyes, Secretary, Sandy Fay

Members Absent:            Anita Berman, Marcia Fair, excused

Others Present:            Debra DeJonker-Berry, Library Director

            Karen McDonald, Assistant Library Director

            Stephen Borkowski, Chair of the Art Commission

Call to Order:            James Cole called the meeting to order at 5:20

 

Parking:  Robin presented a draft Traffic Hearing Proposal to go before the Board of Selectmen. She asked the Board to decide on the language. Discussion ensued about what should be requested and how to present the request.

Motion: Sandy Fay moved and C.J. Noyes seconded the motion to request a Loading Zone, two handicap parking spaces and four additional parking spaces that would be marked with a one-hour limit 9am-6pm. The vote was 3-0 in favor.

Other Business & Correspondence: Stephen Borkowski discussed revolving exhibitions of paintings from the Town collection in the new Library. The Art Commission is committed to using the elegant new space to showcase the collection. Four of the town-owned pieces have been printed and will be available for sale. The Art Commission will pay for postcards for mailing to announce the changing exhibits. Jim and Debbie asked for the Art Commission’s advice on hanging a quilt received from the Nautilus Club. They asked if the Art Commission would accept a gift of a painting from Arthur Cohen that would be hung in the library; the Commission will. They also discussed the disposition of artworks currently on display.

Sandy discussed the food prep for inmates who are working in the library.

Next Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 24 at 5:15pm in the Conference Room at the Police Station.

Adjournment: Sandy Fay moved and C.J. Noyes seconded the motion to adjourn at    6:30pm. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
