Call to Order: James Cole called the meeting to order at 5:15.

Public Statements: There were none.
2. Minutes: Marcia Fair moved and CJ Noyes seconded the motion to accept the minutes of February 18, 2004. The vote was 4-0 in favor. Arthur Pike moved and Marcia Fair seconded the motion to accept the minutes of March 10, 2004. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
3. Chair’s Report: a. PTV program –Debbie reported on her meeting with Robin Haueter, a walk-through the Library with Robin asking questions. There will be four people in the film, perhaps Susan Packard, Roger Skillings, Laine Quinn, and Debbie. She expects the show will bring in new users.
b. Art Exhibit Wall—The Board randomly chose from qualified applicants, the artists who will be permitted to use the Art Exhibit Wall. They are: Jim Weigle, May; Christian Kozaki, June; Stephen Toomey, July; Brenda Silva, August; Ghee Patrick, September; Richard Morse, October; Dianna Morton, November; Gerry Brennan & COA, December; and Diana Maher, January 2005.
c. SPPL Meeting: Promotional Items –Jim Cole reported on last week’s meeting, which Arthur and Debbie also attended. There will be a Spring fundraiser at the Porchside Bar on Wednesday, June 2, 6-9pm; tickets will be $15. The Supporters will take on the Cat’s Meow replica of the building as an ongoing fundraiser. They still have coffee mugs, sweatshirts, tees, and linden wood to sell. Debbie reported they raised $180 at the Yearrounder’s Festival, primarily from book sales.
4. Director’s Report: Debbie is researching a computerized reservation system for internet usage and is looking into buying or leasing a machine to charge for printing. Approximate cost is +-$5,000.
a. Grant Updates: She mailed the digitization grant proposal today to LSTA, Karen Krahulik wrote a letter of support of it. Debbie is now working on MCC grant proposal.
b. CLAMS Training March 22: The Board members scheduled themselves to cover the desk while the staff is in CLAMS training on March 22. Debbie has met informally with the directors of Truro and Wellfleet libraries for general discussion about CLAMS money needs and other issues. They set another meeting for September.
c. Internship program—Debbie has completed the paperwork and sent it to the Town Manager for Agnes Imecs to intern for 18 months. Debbie told Agnes that she was unable to find housing for Agnes, who said she will handle it.
d. Debbie reported on a state website that lists surplus items, including study carrels,
chairs, bookshelves, etc., to be
distributed by the state. She will check it again when the time comes to
furnish the new building.
5. Building Committee: Marcia Fair reported that the next meeting is tomorrow at 2pm.
The Banner published a note in Around the Bend about circulation being up 20% in February, about building progress, and a plug about sending a donation. Marcia announced that clerk of the works, Bill Ingraham, is in the hospital, and flowers have been sent.
a. Change orders: The Selectmen have approved four small change orders.
6. Capital Campaign: Marcia Fair circulated the March Gift Report, and the cash
reports for February and March. People are sending in the balance on their pledges, and some are increasing their pledges. A four-page spring update will be sent to arrive in people’s homes early in May.
a.There will be a new event: Author’s Read: Live at Town Hall on August 29 7-8:30 followed by a Meet the Author benefit at someone’s home. Jen Rumpza may manage it with Nancy Sirvent Vice Chair of the Campaign Committee. They are meeting again April 28.
b. Yearrounders—Debbie reported having three tables with booksale books and a computer showing photographs of the construction at the Festival. It was well attended and many people dropped by.
7. Other
Business: Arthur Pike got a voter registration list from the Town
Clerk on CD which includes 2911 names. He has expunged from it the list of 417
voters who have already given, and is thinking of a way to approach them
remaining voters to ask for a gift. Jim will be putting out collection cans
next week. Debbie will be taking vacation 5/2-5/18/04
Next Meeting: The next
meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21
at 5:15pm in the Police Station Conference Room.
Adjournment: Arthur Pike moved and Marcia Fair seconded
the motion to adjourn at 6:15. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
