BOARD
OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES
MINUTES OF INTERVIEW MEETING OF May 28, 2002
The
Board of Library Trustees held a public meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at
9:00 AM in the Judge Welsh Hearing Room in Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street for
the purpose of interviewing architectural firms (see attached agenda). Attending were Trustees Jim Cole, Arthur
Pike, Marcia Fair, Building Committee Members Joyce Guide and Regina Binder,
Town Advisor, William Ingraham, and Library Director Debra DeJonker-Berry.
Each
candidate was asked to follow a set schedule, which included introductions (5
minutes), presentations focusing on structural issues (15 minutes), and
questions (40 minutes). Following the
interviews, the candidates were ranked by the Interview Team members thus
resulting in a composite score as follows:
|
Perry
Dean Rogers/Partners |
25
points |
|
Tappe
Associates |
20
points |
|
Brown
Lindquist |
18

|
Stephen

It
was the consensus of the Interview Team that Perry Dean Rogers/Partners (PDR/P)
gave the most thorough presentation and engaged in the most articulate
discussion of any of the firms interviewed on May 28. PDR/P presented the only response that stuck with the Interview
questions/issues, without wandering. It
also presented a superior proposal in response to the RFQ issued on May 1 – the
most complete, comprehensive, and informative proposal among the eight
received. The Interview Team agreed
that the Library Director would check references and speak to the Town Manager
about taking the next step.
Marcia
Fair moved to recommend the firm of
Perry Dean Rogers/Partners for the Library architectural services contingent on
favorable references. Arthur Pike
seconded, and the motion passed (3-0-0).
Ginny
Binder agreed to update the Building Committee on the process. The meeting adjourned at 4:00 PM.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Arthur
Pike,
Library
Trustee
