Meeting Agenda

Review affordable housing application for 21 Bradford Street Extension

David Krohn and Delwyn Trent presented the plan for Bissell Tennis Courts.

David Krohn is one of the owners and D. Trent is the property manager.  David and his partner purchased this beautiful piece of land that has commercial and residential on it.   They want to keep the recreation facility (tennis) and have 8 units that are already there.  Their intention is to give it that "Oh Wow" factor.  It’s not all that beautiful right now.  They want to create privacy and landscape the edge of the property, etc.

They handed out packets to the partnership members.  They have put in a proposal for demolition and will be heard on that request by the Historic District Commission on March 21st.  The buildings that they propose demolishing are not native to Provincetown; the buildings came from Truro.  There are only 2 existing buildings; the larger one is comprised of 3 buildings put together.  The foundations are crumbling, etc.  They said they might try to save pieces and move them to clubhouse.  Just generally, they said, we’re adjacent to wetlands.  They want to take advantage of a gully and create a buffer zone.  They’ve contracted with Paul Shea and we’ve already contacted ConCom.  They will also contract with a landscaping engineer.  Again with the "Oh Wow" factor.  David will meet with the folks at the Moors

Noah Taylor arrived at 9:11 a.m. and didn’t hear the previous presentation.

They intend keeping the tennis business but will put off  beer and wine additions for the present.  They will allocate 30 percent of the units for community housing.  It will be 3 units.   They plan on putting in 11+ units.

There will be 16 housing units which is the total plus the clubhouse.  If this works out, David said, he’ll be living there, too.  He was expounding on the appeal of mixed housing.

A.J. Alon wondered about a start date but David K. said without clearing all the hurdles of applying to committees, he couldn't give a date.

Motion:  Support the construction of Herring Cove Village.

Motion:  Bryan Green             Seconded:  Melissa Jones           Vote:  4-0-0.

David asked what else was needed?  The LHP would have to have proof that it’s a viable project.  A.J. said that a pricing packet has to be included – ownership or rentals?  - has to be specific.  David said they are funding it themselves – but would like to get help.  They can get a letter from Wachovia.  They just need to supplement their funding for extras, i.e., landscaping, etc.

David Krohn suggested having a site visit and all the members of the LHP who were in attendance decided to go to the site very soon………….  As soon as they could adjourn the meeting so it happened around 10:00 a.m.
