Meeting Minutes of

Chairman Gail Browne convened the meeting at 4:02 PM noting the following members present:  Gail Browne, Mary Ann Cabral, Olympia Ciliberto, Eleanora Irving and Bill Schneider.

 

No public statements were presented.

 

The minutes from the June 12, 2007 and July 31, 2007 meetings of the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship were reviewed.

 

MOTION:  Move to approve the minutes from the June 12, 2007 meeting of the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship Committee.

MOTION:  Move to approve the minutes from the July 31, 2007 meeting of the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship Committee.

Chairman Browne circulated a thank you note received from Melissa Lomba.

 

Chairman Browne presented an invoice received from Scholarship America in the amount of $225.00, representing the fee for processing scholarship applications for the Provincetown High School Class of 2008.

 

MOTION:  Move to approve payment of the invoice from Scholarship America in the amount of $225.00.

Chairman Browne presented an invoice from the U.S. Postal Service in the amount of $70.00 for the rental of the post office box for the Scholarship Committee’s exclusive use.

 

MOTION:  Move to approve payment in the amount of $70.00 to Gail Browne as reimbursement for the post office box rental on behalf of the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship Committee.

The Committee convened in Executive Session to review the scholarship applications for 14 students from the Class of 2008.

 

Chairman Browne presented the application from an upperclassman who submitted a request for disbursement after the October 1st deadline.  A discussion ensued concerning the policy regarding late requests for disbursements from continuing students.

 

 

 

MOTION:  Move to not approve the request for disbursement received after the October 1st deadline.

Following additional discussion regarding the scholarship guidelines, the application form was reviewed and revised.

 

MOTION:  Move to approve the revised Scholarship Application to incorporate the changes discussed.

MOTION:  Move to award the applicants from the Class of 2008 and one applicant from the Class of 2007 as recommended by the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 PM.
