Meeting Minutes of

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Caucus Hall

Chair Gail Browne convened the meeting at 4:08 PM noting the following members present: Gail Browne, Olympia Ciliberto, Bill Schneider and Alternate member Eleanora Irving. Phil Gaudiano arrived at 4:38 PM. Member Mary Ann Cabral was absent, which was excused.

Pursuant to the March 29, 2006 memo from the former JAFSSC Chairperson, it was recommended by Chair Browne to distribute the 2006 Town Scholarship Award to Vida Hamnquist in the amount of $2,000.

MOTION: Move to award the 2006 Town Scholarship to Vida Hamnquist in the amount of $2,000.

Chair Browne expressed concern about the calendar previously presented as a guideline for processing scholarship applications and requested this matter be added to the agenda of the next meeting.

MOTION: Move to approve the minutes from April 18, 2007.

Olympia Ciliberto stated she has not received reimbursement for the renewal of the Scholarship Committee’s post office box. The Town Treasurer will ensure this disbursement request is presented to the Board of Selectmen at their next meeting, scheduled for May 29, 2007.

The Town Treasurer would like to schedule a meeting with the Scholarship Committee to discuss fund investments. The Committee agreed that a meeting after July 16, 2007 would work for all members of the Committee.

Olympia Ciliberto asked about the status of the Grachien scholarship. Chair Browne indicated the Town Treasurer is researching this matter and agreed to add this item to the agenda of the next meeting.

Chair Browne indicated that Town Counsel has responded to her request for an opinion, but the Town Manager has not yet forwarded the opinion to her. Once received, Ms. Browne will forward a copy to all Committee members.

Mr. Gaudiano joined the meeting at 4:38 PM.

The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 4:00 PM.

Ms. Browne indicated Mary Ann Cabral has agreed to print the 2007 Scholarship Award certificates, which will be distributed at the June 1, 2007 graduation ceremony.

MOTION: Move to request Olympia Ciliberto present the 2007 Scholarship Awards at the Provincetown High School Graduation Ceremony, scheduled for 3PM on June 1, 2007 at the Amphitheatre at the Cape Cod National Seashore.
