Chair Gail Browne convened the meeting at 4:01 PM noting the following members present: Gail Browne, Olympia Cilbierto, Anita Berman and Bill Schneider.

Members absent: Mary Ann Cabral

Also present: Phil Guardiano and Eleanor Irving

Chairman Browne requested the Committee consider the request of Eleanor Irving to serve as an alternate member be considered for approval by the Committee.

MOTION: Move that Eleanor Irving be appointed an as alternate member of the John Anderson Francis Family Scholarship Committee.

Motion by: Anita Berman; Seconded by: Olympia Cilberto; Yea: 4 Nay: 0 Abstain: 0

Discussion regarding the current procedures approved for implementation by the Scholarship Committee, and the possible amendment to permit students from outside of Provincetown (including “school choice” students and non-Provincetown and Truro residents). The Board entertained an amendment to require Provincetown High School students attend school for their junior and senior year to be eligible for the full scholarship, and students who attended for only their senior year to be eligible for the minimum scholarship.

MOTION: To amend the current procedures of the JAFFSC to allow students of Provincetown High School (“PHS”) who have completed their entire senior year at PHS be eligible for a minimum scholarship, and students who have completed their entire junior and senior year at PHS be eligible for full scholarships. The same amendment would apply to students who are residents of Provincetown and Truro who attend Cape Cod Regional Technical High School during their junior and senior years of high school.

Discussion regarding the vote made by the Scholarship Committee on May 4^th concerning the scholarship awards for the 2006 graduating class.

MOTION: To award the 15 scholarships for 2006 as approved by the Scholarship Committee on May 4, 2006.

Discussion regarding scheduling a further meeting to discuss the proposed amendment ensued. A meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 4:00 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 PM.
