Meeting called to order 10:00 AM

Present:  Dray, Knight, Milkewicz, Burnell

Absent:  Pappalardo

 

 

1.  Tony Lemme returned to discuss front doors, brought sample wood from original doors which revealed dark paint at lowest layer.  Commission agreed to recommend dark green – Ben. Moore ½ black, ½ Essex green.

 

2.  Discussion of role of HC as Building Committee for Town Committee for Town Hall repairs.  Motion to make Historical Commission the Building Committee for repairs.

 

            Motion:  Knight            Second:  Milkewicz            4-0-0

 

3.  Discussion of upcoming Selectmen meeting on disposition of two fore stations and old library.  Commission considering making recommendations that if sold, easement or other form of restriction be attached which identifies character defining features that should be retained or replaced in kind.  Also consider recommending that town retain ownership because it makes them available for CPC and other possible funding.  All opposed to moving the firehouse adjacent to the town landing – its setting is a critical component of its significant.

 

Dray will draft letter to be read into record at June 5 meeting.

 

4.  Meeting with students for B.U. who presented their draft Preservation Plan.  Commission members will review and provide comments at next meeting.
