Session commenced at 9:00 AM with a general discussion of each of the Cases
to be presented during the Public Meeting. It was also announced that Lawrence
Riley submitted his resignation from the Historical Commission.

Case #2002-054 Tom
Thompson on behalf of Richard Murray and William Dugal, 63 Commercial Street, [Map/Parcel 06-2-018; MHC
#1428; Historic Name: Workshop; Date: 1930; 1070s; Style: Astylistic] Previously reviewed - designer to submit revised plans for final
approval.
This
case will be held over as more changes will be made to the plans.
Case #2003-020 Gary Palochko, 14 Court
Street, [Map/Parcel
07-2-149; MHC #None; Historic Name: Central chimney ½ house; Date: 1800-1830;
Style: Timber frame; Victorian alteration] Previously reviewed -
designer to submit revised plans for final approval.
Tom Thompson submitted changed plans showing the window layout
requested by the Commission. These plans were approved.
New Cases
Case #2003-028 Neal Kimball on behalf of
Thomas Reichard, 3 Carver Street, 3 Carver Street CD #1, [Map/Parcel

Revival] Replace windows on East façade bump out with French doors.
It was moved to approve these plans with the following conditions:
1.
Side window to be retained.
2.
Four doors to be replaced with three doors one of
which will be a fixed panel. Detail will be maintained.

Case #2003-029 Roxane Pratton, 15-17

Revival; Alterations; Astylistic Victorian; Residential Alteration] Remove
front addition of main house and construct deck with Friendship stairs; restore
window units to second level; include front porch on footprint of original
porch with stair to grade for egress.
Remove existing cottage and rebuild to original footprint.
This plan was not
approved and the applicant will return with the following changes:
1. Revised plans will be submitted for the front stairs. Porch balusters will be captured. Replacement windows to be same size as window in gable.
2. In the cottage the old molding to be retained or replaced. Door to be replaced with “P-town” door. Windows to be 2 over 2.
Case #2003-030 David Sanborn and Thomas
Walter, and represented by Terry Luff, Architect, 78 Bradford Street, [Map/Parcel 07-4-007;
MHC #1190?; Historic Name: Cottage; Date:1900-1920; Style: Astylistic] Remove
and replace a historically significant structure.
This
case will be held over so that the architect can submit a plan using the
existing building instead of demolishing the present one.
Case #2003-031 Christine Steinwand
and Jo Anne Shatkin, and represented by Laurie Ferrari, 383 Commercial Street,
Bull Ring Wharf CD Unit #8, [Map/Parcel
12-2-17; MHC #none; Historic Name: Old Knowles’ Wharf/Bull Ring Wharf; Date:
pre-1850; mid-20th c; Style: Timber frame(?); Residential
conversion] Install new window in upper sidewall; replacement of all
current windows with exact wooden replicas, including grills; installation of
gas fireplace with chimney that is shingled on the center of the roofline;
install two or three skylights on back wall over kitchen.
This case will be held over for more information and the following suggestions to be were given to the representative of the owners:
1. Windows will be 6 over 6 with true divides or permanently applied muntins.
2. Chimney will be parged or brick veneer.
3. The number of skylights required.
It was moved to accept the minutes of the meeting of April 9th, 2003.
