Provincetown Historical Commission

Meeting of

October 2, 2002, 9:00 AM

 

Members Present: Gino Verzone, Stephen Milkewicz, Roger Keene, Ardis Markarian, and Lawrence Riley. John Dowd arrived at 9:30.

 

Members Absent: Austin Knight

 

Town Hall Representative: Maxine Notaro

 

There was a work session from 9:00 until 9:30 AM. Gino Verzone explained that an applicant was not able to attend this meeting and requests that a decision be issued in his absence. The client is out of the country. This Case, #2002-067, will be discussed and decided upon during the regular meeting.

 

Other items were mentioned such as the Town Hall doors and the doors on the Spiritus Pizza building.

 

John Dowd called the regular meeting to order at 9:30 AM.

 

New Business

 

Case #2002-066      David Maxfield, 27 Franklin Street [Map/Parcel 6-4-99; MHC #1321; Historic Name: House; Date: 1850-80; Style: Astylistic Victorian] Replace two under-sized egresses with one 32” and one 36” door and replace four windows with 2 over 1.

 

Patricia Falwell, a tenant, appeared before the Commission to present this case since the changes were going to be on her unit.

 

It was moved to accept this proposal with the following conditions:

 

Door on Bradford Street el will match the original main door on front façade.  Muntins must be permanently applied to exterior. Windows to be cased to match original with window sills.

Case #2002-067            Richard L Barry, 20 Whorf’s Court [Map/Parcel 6-4-114; MHC #1332; Historic Name: Center chimney full cottage; Date: c 1800-20; Style: Timber frame] Two dog-house dormers on front roof in keeping with the period, also full shed dormer, one rear; change all windows to 2 over 2.

 

Gino Verzone represented Richard L. Barry. It was moved to accept the changes as presented.

Public Session

 

Three abutters to 149A Commercial Street appeared to find demolition delay applies to that particular property.  The Commission members opined that permission was grandfathered in and suggested that they contact the Cape Cod Commission or State department of environment .

 

It was moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 AM.
