Meeting of

A
work session was held between 9:00 and 9:30 AM and the members familiarized
themselves with the plans submitted for the cases to be heard.

Dowd called the regular meeting to order at 9:30 AM.
Old Business
Case #2002-050 Kurt
E. Raber of Brown Lindquist Fenuccio & Richmond Architects, Inc.
representing Provincetown Theater Foundation, Inc., 238 Bradford Street, [Map/Parcel 15-2-022; MHC #504; Historic Name: Automotive Garage;
Date: 1900; c 1960; Style: Victorian frame: extensive alterations] Old Bradford Street Motor
Garage is being revitalized into a New Performing Arts Center. Alterations include replacement of all doors
and windows, new siding, new entry gable and new marquis.
Ardis Markarian excused herself from hearing this
case as she has a conflict of interest.
Alix Ritchie explained, using an architect’s
drawing, the revised changes as discussed at the last meeting. All changes
discussed and agreed upon by the Commission and the architect at the last
meeting were not shown on the new drawing. Ms. Ritchie will resubmit changes
made to the sketch to the architect to redraw plans to present to the Board of
Appeals later in the week.
Rick Wrigley, an abutter and member of the Theater
Committee was not happy and very disappointed with the design and the
architect.
Roger Keene had to leave the meeting prior to the
vote due to personal reasons.
John Dowd redrew a sketch showing what ideas the
Historical Commission had and explained them to the Theater Committee.
It was suggested that when a new drawing was made,
Gino Verzone and John Dowd will go over
the drawing.
A rough sketch was made using the architect’s
drawing making the following changes:
1. Shed extension eliminated.
2. Entrance to have shed canopy.
3. Doors to have barn-like storm covers.
4. Corners of main structure to be marked by plain pilasters.
A motion was made to approve the changes with
conditions abovde.

Case
#2002-053 Michael Myers
representing Maurice Grunberg, 87 Bradford

Date: 1820-1850; 1900-1940; Style: Timber frame; sash and siding] Replace
first floor double hung windows with Anderson and replace front door.
No
one appeared for this case.
Case #2002-054
Tom Thompson representing Richard
Murray & William Dougal, 63 Commercial Street, [Map/Parcel 06-2-18; MHC #1428; Historic Name: Workshop; Date: pre-
1930; 1970s; Style: Astylistic] Add second story with 12/1- pitch and shed dormer,
replace existing 6/6 windows with new 6/6 windows and doors, open front
portico, add columns/bayside cupola.
The
owner wants to turn the house into a year-round house. Work is need on the
bayside. Preliminary drawings were submitted but Mr. Thompson wanted a final
approval from the Historical Commission with recommended changes so he can go
on to the Zoning Board and Board of Health with the plans. The Commission
suggested some changes in details on the bayside. A motion was made to accept the
plans with the following changes:
1. Champered bay instead of round turret.
2. Bay to have supportive bracket. Column may remain on or be
removed.
3. All windows cased minimum 4”, capped exterior muntins and
historic sills
