A general work session was held between 9:00 and 9:30 AM Gino Verzone called the regular meeting to order at 9:30 AM.

Case #2002-018 John Yingling, 190

Contributing] Replace front door.
Ardis Markarian met with
John Yingling. He is having custom doors made in the “Provincetown” style
recommended by the Historical Commission.
Case #2002-029
Stat Builder/Renovators representing Katina

Style: timber frame (federalist)] Remove and replace 6 over 6 windows.

Case #2002-033 586 Commercial
Street, The Ship’s Bell Motel.
Eric
Dray presented a plan to replace the seven windows to five, 2/2, true divides,
wood cased, white cedar, roof will be red cedar. Skylight is 1960 addition.
Roofline of dormer on the main/oldest façade will replace gable. This plan was
approved with conditions agreed upon unanimously by the Commission.

Tom
Thompson updated the Commission on changes being made at Building #1 at 351A
Commercial Street. More notably, a roof dormer was being replaced with a
cupola. The Building Department had already approved the change and the
Commission also approved the change.
Mark
LaPorte spoke to the Commission about future historic preservation projects.
New monies will soon be available from Land Bank funds. The Commission needs to
think of the best way to use these funds.
Gino
Verzone spoke to the Commission about a few letters he received from the MHC
regarding properties at 205-209 Commercial Street, 232 Bradford Street, and the
addition at the Heritage Museum Library. Questions arose as to why the MHC was
getting involved in these cases before the Provincetown Historical Commission.

The Commission noted that
the doors installed at the Crown and Anchor were not the doors discussed with
the owner and approved by the Commission. Maxine Notaro is going to speak to
Warren Alexander (?) regarding this.
Stephen
Milkewicz brought up the “naked” stovepipe and the Anchor Inn. He is going to
look into this. John Dowd is looking into the “naked” pipe at Gabriel’s.
