Work Sesssion: Warren Alexander, Building Commissioner, brought a brochure to the
Commission showing various styles of brick facing which could be used for the
facing on the Firehouse on Commercial Street. The members selected one style
and returned the brochure to Mr. Alexander with their selection.
Gino
Verzone brought to the attention of the Commission a Local Comprehensive Plan
(LCP) Implementation Committee Article to hire one Town Planner instead of one
for each project at a high expense. It was decided to wait to see the Article
before approval.
The
regular meeting was called to order by John Dowd, Chair, at 9:30 AM.

Case # 2002-001 Andrew
Simon representing Frank Patano, 11 Bradford Street [Map/Parcel 06-4-073; MHC # 1375; Historic Name: sidehall cottage; Date:
1870-90's; 1980's; Style: Astylistic Victorian; siding Replace
window with French door; remove/enclose existing window and install new window
in different location.
Changes to plans were: door to be 3’ wide with glass top and wood panel on bottom. Side windows to be approximately 18”-20”, two over one, exterior applied permanent muntins, cased to match original.
Motion: Roger
Keene made motion to accept plan with changes. Gino Verzone seconded and it passed unanimously.
Item: Eric Dray, Chairman of Local Historic
District Study Commission spoke to Historical Commission about the Article
on Demo Delay Ordnance. A letter will be sent to newspapers to call special
Town Meeting in the Fall regarding Historic District. A sub-committee from the
Historic Commission was selected to help with the Article. Ardis Markarian will
be on the sub-committee and Stephen Milkewicz will contacted to see if he would
want to be on the committee..

one side of unit; replace windows; change the façade with circular windows and

Motion: Gino Verzone made a motion
to write a letter to Cape Cod Commission that the Historical Commission opposes
the two projects. It was seconded by
Lawrence Riley and passed unanimously.

porch added] Restore rear door; move
front door; add window; replace sashes.
Only change was that the
bracketed canopy over door to be a flat roof on the West side.
Motion: John Dowd moved to approve
the plans as amended. Roger Keene seconded
and it passed unanimously.
Case #2002-011 Peter J. Portnoy, 39 Pearl Street

1960's; Style: Astylistic Victorian; 2nd story added] Remove shed and connector to main house and replace with gable-roofed
addition.

by Roger Keene and passed unanimously.
Case #2002-012 Peter Page, representing M. Halliday

Name: ¾ Cottage; Date: c 1820-40; 1960's; Style: Federalist; timber frame
addition] Remove chimney; remove
hinged doors and replace with gliding door, remove one patio door and replace
with window.
Only
change was that chimney should be reproduced with same dimensions and design
and applied bricks which was acceptable by owner.
Motion: Ardis Markarian moved to
accept with change. Gino Verzone seconded
and plan passed unanimously.
Case #2002-013 J. Peternell and R. Golon, 26 Bradford
Street [Map/Parcel 06-4-132; MHC # 1349; Historic Name: ½ House; Date: c
1840-50; 1970's; Style: Greek Revival; partial sash and siding] Replace entry porches.
R. Guerin, architect
described plans. Changes were that canopy on right door to be a flat roof the
depth of the landing. Trimmed and detailed to match existing door trim.
Motion: Gino Verzone made motion to
approve plans as amended. Ardis Markarian seconded
and it passed unanimously.
Other: A press release about the
Historical Commission awards was written by Gino Verzone and it was approved as
is.
The
minutes for February 6th were approved..
