Public Hearing 4:00 p.m.

2007-30 (Case continued to August 15, 2007)

Application by Robert Valois on behalf of Laura Rood for a Certificate to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown Historic District Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of Provincetown.  The applicant seeks approval for egress requirements, replace (2) undersized windows with 4’ French door, replace hip roof with a shed roof and “cut-in” a roof deck at the property located at 149A Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA.

Robert Valois, the present architect, went over the history of the building.  Original structure was given approval as a demolition – then after lengthy redesign the plan was approved.  Bottom line:  the building we are now looking at is no longer an historic building – but it is a new building.  Then there was a rather long discourse on how each faηade was changed by certain percentages.  Bottom line was emphasized one more time – it is no longer an historic structure.  The owner, Laura Rood said that the structure was built in 2005 thus it is now a new building and there is nothing left of the original structure.

Motion:  Accept the plan as presented.

Motion:  John Dowd      Seconded:  Steven Bergquist

Vote:  3 in favor – 1 opposed (CN) - no abstentions

2007-37

Application by Claire & Bob Woodwards for a Certificate to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown Historic District Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of Provincetown.  The applicant seeks approval to create a livable space under the existing deck

at the property located at 448 Commercial Street #1, Provincetown, MA.

John Reis (Golden Hammer) presented the plan for the Copper Fox building.  It involved making the area under the existing deck becoming living space for the lower unit.  John R. gave a good explanation of what he was hoping to do but unfortunately it wasn’t accompanied by appropriate drawings.  He was asked to return to the September 12th meeting with completed drawings so a decision can be made.

2007-38

Application by Harvey Hayswirth & Steve Tompkins for a Certificate to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown Historic District Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of Provincetown.  The applicant seeks approval to replace windows, trim and siding as required at the property located at 555A Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA.

This has already been approved under an administrative review.

2007-39
