Public Meeting
Case #2004-001
Application by Roger Martin for Certificate of Compliance to be
issued in accordance with the Provincetown Historic District Commission
established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of
Provincetown. The applicant seeks approval to raise the outer edge of the porch roof
and to add historical trim at the property located at 5 Cook Street, Provincetown, MA.
Roger Martin
presented his case to the Commission. He felt that prior modification to the
house have detracted from its Greek Revival origins. Various alternatives were
discussed.
A motion was
made to approve, that detail over the garage and tabiture to be recreated on
porch facade and doorway to reflect more the original doorway, pilasters
on front of porch to be plain stock, not fluted and the width of the house or
smaller.

Case #2004-002
Application by Cape Associates on behalf
of Michael Cogley for a
Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown
Historic Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the
Town of Provincetown. The applicants seek
approval to
replace front doors; reconstruct the East
side of the front deck; replace a previously removed gable window and rebuild
the brick steps at the eastern front door at the property located at 70 Commercial
Street, Provincetown, Ma. Mark Kinane of
Cape Associates presenting.
Motion to approve with conditions: to replace (gable window) in kind
with a closed squared base with slight projection on roof or replace with oral
to match historical model to be approved y a subcommittee consisting of
Burnell, Dowd and Church.

a Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown
History Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the
Town of Provincetown. The applicant seeks
approval to replace a wood bay window unit with a white vinyl bay window unit
at the property located at 38
Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA.
Case was
presented by Tony Polack.
A motion was
made to approve replacement in kind with a closed squared off base with a slight projection on roof or
replace with oriel window which will match the historical models to be approved
by a committee composed of Dowd,
Church, and Brunell.

for Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance with Provincetown
Historic District Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15
of the Town of Provincetown. The
applicant seeks approval to install a second means of egress, a door and a
stairway on the second floor Northeast end of the building at the property
located at 6 Tremont Street, Provincetown, MA.
A motion was
made to approve with a single light door with panels below in wood.

Application by Kimball Residential Design
on behalf of David L. Silva for
Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance with Provincetown Historic
District Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the
Town of Provincetown. The applicant seeks
approval to add three egress doors and shed dormers on the rear South side of
the building and to add walkways/decks over the dining room and replace all
roof framing in kind at the property located at 15 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA
A motion was made to accept as proposed with a simpler post detail with
administrative approval required for railing design.

Case #2004-006
Application by Kimball Residential Design
on behalf of Hazel Warner
for Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance with Provincetown
Historic Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the
Town of Provincetown. The applicant seeks
approval to remove exterior egress stairs, add turret to the house and internal
stairway at the property located at 269A Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA.
Case was
presented by Neil Kimball.
A motion was
made to approve the tower element with:
1. modifications
to the banding which will pick up the cornice line of the original and with an
attempt to scale down the windows opening slightly with six over six windows
and with recessed panels on the bottom.
2. to deny the
changing locations of the first floor windows but windows may be changed.
3. to deny
change to door surround but allow change of door.

Case #2004-007
Application by Maureen Wilson and Meg
Stewart for Certificate
of Compliance to be issued in accordance with the Provincetown Historic
Commission established under the General By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of
Provincetown. The applicant seeks
approval to replace the first and second floor picture windows on the rear
façade with French doors and side lights; and two windows on second floor with
2/2 windows and replace a glass block
“window” on the East façade with a wood door at the property located at 137 Commercial Street,
Provincetown, MA.
A motion was
made to approve plans as submitted or with suggestion for alternate second
floor.

Associates, Inc. on behalf of Laura Rood for a Certificate of Compliance to be issued in accordance
with the Provincetown Historic Commission established under the General
By-Laws, Chapter 15 of the Town of Provincetown. The applicant seeks approval to reconstruct a new building at the
property located at 149A
Public comments: Public comments were heard issues of
literary significance, prior use as a
ice house, and size were raised.
A motion was made to approve as amended with setback of second floor roof
eight to nine feet and with two over one windows and door to be four panel
unit.

made to approve plans as submitted.
