Meeting of The Provincetown Harbor Committee Minutes
Wednesday, 5, January, 2005
The
January 5, 2005 meeting of the Provincetown Harbor Committee was called to
order by Chairman Gerard Irmer at 4:35 P.M.
In
attendance were Committee Members Heather Bruce, Alice Brock, Kerry Adams, and
Alternate Member, Melville Cote.
Ann
Coleburn, due to an excused absence, was unable to attend.
Also
attending as Advisors were: Pier Corporation Manager, Rex McKinsey, and Chief
of Police Ted Meyer.
The
first item discussed were the minutes of the December 15th 2004 meeting.
After
having the minutes read, a brief discussion took place in which changes were
made. A motion was made and seconded to
approve the minutes as amended. The
motion was passed unanimously five to zero.
The
next item on the agenda was the reading and discussion of the draft of the
"New Harbor Plan" and how it pertained to Chapter 91. Among the topics discussed were: 1. Beach Accessibility and what residents and
businesses would be able to do as well as not to do in order to allow it,
2. The Schofield line as it stands and
whether it was done legally and the possibility of having it relocated, 3. keeping the Harbor Beaches clean who should
be responsible for doing so with the incentive of possible credit towards any
bills or fees they might incur.
Rex
Mc Kinsey told The Committee that he would make a comparison between the Harbor
Plan that is and the plan, which was currently being worked on.
Chief
of Police Ted Meyer told the committee of a possibility of obtaining up to
($3,000,000) three million dollars through various grants that would be used to
implement "The New Harbor Plan."
Chief Meyer also commended the
D.P.W.
(Department of Public Works) for their hard work with limited
resources
describing to The Committee the "unbelievable condition of The Town's
snowplows. After lengthy discussion of
the draft of "The New Harbor Plan.
The Committee Members then agreed to take the draft home in order to study
and resume the discussion at the next meeting.
The
next meeting of The Harbor Committee was then scheduled for Wednesday 12 January
2005, from 4 to 7 P.M. A motion was
made to adjourn the meeting, which was quickly seconded. The motion was unanimously carried Five to
zero at 6:15 P.M.
