Long-Term Planning
There was a general discussion regarding the work of the Historical Commission and the Historic District Commission. The Historical Commission will be a preservation planning body. The areas where the Historical Commission can work on are:
1. Conduct researches for places of historic or archeological value
2. Seek to coordinate the activities of unofficial bodies organized for similar purposes
3. Advertise, prepare, print and distribute books, maps, charts, and pamphlets which it deems necessary for its work
4. Make such recommendations as it deems necessary to the Board of Selectmen
5. Report to the State archeologist the existence of any archeological, paleontological or historical site or object discovered.
When pertinent information is pulled together and would be of use to the Zoning and Planning Boards, the Historical Commission should bring it to their attention.
A general discussion ensued regarding funds to help people who need funds to restore their house. These funds can be in the form of loans or grants.
