Any
other business that shall properly come before the Board
Tom
Gaudreau reported that a strange acting, sick raccoon was spotted on the inner
courtyard of the Crown and Anchor. He
called the Police Department and they said that Ruth Ann Cowing was on
vacation so perhaps he should call the Board of Health. He then spoke to Brian Carlson who, too,
called the Police Department. When that
didn't receive any action Brian tried
calling Wild Care as well as a few other agencies. No one responded and by the next morning the
raccoon was dead.
At
that time the DPW was called and they shoveled it into a dumpster. Had the animal been rabid????? Brian had received a freezer from the state
in order to save problems like this for investigation BUT not one of the town's offices wants it housed in their
facility. It is currently in the DPW
garage under a threat from them to trash it if it's not removed.
Brian
has e-mails going back for months on the freezer issue.
The general consensus of the
Board was that a letter should be sent to the Police Department regarding the
incident. Jerry and Duane will draft the
letter and Duane will send it as the Chair.
Freezer
issue: Duane asked Brian to call other
towns and discuss the freezer problem and how they are handling it. If the issue can't be resolved then perhaps
Sandy Turner could be called in to a meeting to discuss the problem.
Brian
Carlson handed out announcements regarding the Emergency Preparedness Planning
Summit he is planning for
