Meeting opened with a moment of silence for the Firefighters and civilians lost in the attack on the World Trade Center.
Gov. Pataki of New York has signed EMAC legislation that will facilitate an agreement for service between Mass. & New York. A deployment plan has been requested including specific numbers of Fire Dept. personnel who would be deployed to NY for CISM purposes. Official deployment of personnel will be predicated upon completion of contractual documents between MEMA and individual communities.
Identification Cards to be issued to department members discussed. Secretary will speak to the PD. Police Dept. could photo department members and laminate the cards.
Fund Raising Event for the families of Firemen, Policemen & Emergency Workers that died in the New York attack will be held at Stephanie’s on the Water on Wednesday,
September 26, 2001 from 4 to 9 p.m. Ticket cost: $25.00.
Firemen are needed to sell tickets at the door.
Wellfleet Fire Department has Two, 2˝ inch. Pyrolite Nozzles (not automatic) and One, 1 ˝ inch Nozzle they would like to give to the department. Wellfleet is looking for a couple of 2 ˝ inch Gate Valves.
Fire Drill held at High School on August 15, 2001. Chief Trovato & Fire Alarm Inspector Schneiderhan were on site for the drill.
Steward of Headquarters discussed. Roger Green resigned from the position in the spring. Rescue Standby performed cleaning duties during the summer season. Larry Flores interested in position.
Motion: Roderick motioned to appoint Flores as Std. of Headquarters: Alexander
seconded the motion, All in favor.
Letters received from the Wellfleet Fire Department and the Wellfleet Selectmen expressing their appreciation for responding to a Mutual Aid Call in Wellfleet on August 26, 2001.
Barnstable County Radio Shack (Mike Smith) will be contacted re upgrading the radio tower. Has equipment from Motorola been shipped?
Mutual Aid Meeting will be scheduled in the fall with Chiefs Jones, Prada and Height to update running cards. Copy to Board and Captains.
Standard Uniforms for department members discussed. Organizing an Honor Guard for the department discussed. Captains will ask members who would be interested in being part of an Honor Guard.
Septic System at Main Station discussed. Roderick suggested having the system checked annually by A&B Canco of W. Yarmouth. Contract would come under Line Item 5313- Contracted Services.
Landscaping of Main Station discussed. Type of fence discussed. Secretary will research fencing.
Damage to Engine 195 discussed. Insurance adjuster met with the Chief. Claim will be kept open until the vehicle is operating properly and assessment of damages is completed.
Marcia Basine voted into Rescue Squad pending her physical exam.
Jamie R. White voted into the Rescue Squad. Physical exam already taken for Fire Dept.
Motion: Roderick motioned to accept Jamie White and Marsha Basine as members of the Rescue Squad, Alexander seconded the motion, All in favor.
ACLS class will be held on October 28, 2001. Department is responsible for 3 members.
Lorne Russell and Clem Silva will be contacted re teaching CPR classes.
Letter of thanks to be sent to Sandy Turner at DPW, Building & Grounds Dept. for all the work they have done for the Fire Dept.
