Station #5 discussed. Rich from Overhead Door and David White were able to get the overhead door operating. Apparatus Bay must be cleaned out before New Fire Engine 5 can be stored in the building. Memo will be sent to Captain and Lt. of #5.
Building & Grounds Department has done an excellent job on the Johnson Street Station and Station #5. Letter of thanks for a job well done will be sent to DPW.
Mass. Firefighter Academy holding a Structural Firefighting Practices Course on 9/4 & 11, 2001
Chris Branch would like to enroll in Hydraulics for the Fire Service Course at Cape Cod Community beginning September 6. Cost: $247.00. Board in favor.
Lisa Silva would like to enroll in a FF 1 & 2 Course to run from September 8 to November 17, 2001 at Barnstable Firefighter Academy. Board in favor.
Radio Storage Cabinet requested by Radio Officer Lt. Caldwell. Cost $275.00
Motion: Zawaduk motioned to purchase the cabinet, Menangas seconded the motion; All

New Engine #1 discussed. Chief mailed vehicle specs with a letter to Chuck at the Ferrara Plant in New Orleans reminding him that we would like the new vehicle as soon as possible in order to have #5 repaired.
New Engine #5 has 1000 ft. of 4” Hose on it and is loaded with Class A Foam.
Septic System Problem at Main Station discussed. A.B. Canco was contacted to use video camera on the septic system. Camera found lines have ups and downs throughout the line from the Bathroom to the Parking Lot. Also, there was a 2 ˝ inch rock outside the overhead door going to the tank. High Pressure set all lines and removed rock. Canco will be called twice a year to check the lines.
800 Radio Communications discussed. 800 Radio transmissions very poor. 800 Radio was moved to the new tower in a different spot. Chief Trovato contacted Truro Police Chief Thomas who advised him to contact Ralph Swenson at the Radio Shack. Swenson was on vacation, message was left on answering machine. Problem may be due to remote station at water tower instead of a mobile radio used as a Control Station.

Rural Assistance Grants discussed. Memo received from Dave Crary of the National Seashore advising that the Nat’l Seashore can buy the department wildland fire items per Rural Assistance Grants. Approximately $7,000.00 worth of equipment will be purchased. Chief also spoke to Gary Studds re using the air banks and obtaining one of the buildings permanently to be used as a training facility. Crary has volunteered to teach a Wildland Firefighting course during the winter.
Firefighter 1-2 Course will begin on September 8, 2001. Classes will be held at Barnstable County Fire/Rescue Training Academy on Monday & Thursday nights from
7-10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This session will end on November 17, 2001.
Fire Alarm Board located at Police Station, owned by Intercity Alarm, not in working order. Chief Trovato will contact Intercity Alarm.
Radio purchase for Justin White. Lower Cape Ambulance requesting the board permission to purchase a portable for EMT Justin White. White is enrolled in the fall Paramedic class. Chief Trovato recommended that White be issued the radio.
#4 – Chargers needed. Radio Officer Caldwell requesting the purchase of 4 Motorola Minitor Chargers. Cost: $ 18.56 each. Board in favor of purchase.
#1 - Sign for old Station #1 discussed. Selectmen would like to find out what the department has available in old signs to be placed on Stations #1, #2 and the old Headquarters. Board members will look for the signs.
