Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 7:51 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

2007 Muster discussed.  Lack of interest in organizing the muster appears to be a problem.

 

2007 Payroll must be submitted to Town Hall by November 1st in order for checks to be issued prior to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. 

 

Engine 190 – Outside Speaker is not working. 

 

Junior membership discussed. Question arose on the number of Junior members allowed in each house?  Answer given was four in each house.

 

Firemen’s Association discussed.  At present no one interested in being an officer advised Menangas.

 

Purchase of a Plastic Stretcher for the Ladder truck discussed. Captain Martinez will order the stretcher.

 

Motion: Wolf motioned to purchase the stretcher; Roderick seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

House #3

 

Problems with Engine #3 discussed.

 

Kenny Kline cannot be located.  His check will be held until all equipment and gear is returned to the department.

 

Rubber boots vs Leather boots discussed.  Menangas will bring in his Leather/Kevlar boots for the board to look at.

 

House #5

 

Engine 195 had a problem with its foam tank during a recent drill. 

 

House #1

 

Mark Duarte contacted Russell Zawaduk after receiving his letter of dismissal. Duarte advised Zawaduk that no one had spoken to him regarding his lack of attendance prior to being dismissed from House #1.  

 

Engine 190’s brakes not operating properly when backing up.

 

Rescue

 

CPR Recertification of new CPR will be scheduled with Lower Cape EMS Training Group. (Marilyn Monks & April Silva)

 

Status of Ed Fallas discussed. He is presently an Unpaid Auxiliary member.  His status will be discussed at the October 18th meeting.

 

LifePak 12 for new rescue vehicle has not yet been received.  Rescue Captain Roda will contact the representative to find out the status of delivery.

 

Acting Police Chief Warren Tobias asking for the Boards support to install a blinking light at the intersection of Snail Rd and Rte 6 (same as one at Rte 6/Shankpainter Rd.) Board in favor and had recommended the same some time ago.
