Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

Meeting convened at 7:30 p.m.

RESCUE

 

Police Dispatchers would like to ride along in the rescue vehicles to have a better understanding of how radio dispatching from the vehicles is handled.

Roda will contact Cape & Islands to be sure it will not be an issue.

 

Old Life Paks can be traded in if the department has any stored away.  Rescue Stewards will check the building for any old life paks.

 

Floor Mats (3 sets) requested by Rescue Steward for rescue vehicles.

 

Request to wear rescue t-shirts and shorts during rescue standby discussed.

Purchasing Extrication gear for rescue members discussed. Gear could be stored on Ladder 192.

Extrication drill discussed.  Roderick suggested contacting the people who sold us our extrication tools.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned to allow rescue members to wear shorts, t-shirt, black socks and shoes while on rescue standby duty; Wolf seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Pay Per Call Payroll discussed.  Roda will complete the payroll.

 

Rescue Standby application received from EMT Thomas Marvin.

 

Motion:  Roderick motioned to accept Marvin’s application; Alexander seconded the motion, All in favor.

Rescue members will not be paid for responding to fire calls.  The Rescue Squad should be submitting a Fire, Drill & Meeting report form to the board showing the attendance of members who respond to calls.

 

 

LADDER 192

 

Captain Martinez asked if firefighters could be paid for responding to calls just as rescue members now get paid per call.

 

Chief Trovato stated that the Town’s volunteer firefighters are not subject to the wellness standards since they do not receive any compensation.  The small annual stipend the firefighters receive is intended to reimburse the volunteers for their expenses.

 

Address update of all department members reviewed by the board.

 

Motion:  Roderick motioned that anyone who resides beyond the Truro/Wellfleet town line cannot be a member of the Provincetown Fire Department; Wolf seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Captains will be responsible to recover all department equipment and gear from their house members.

 

WISH LIST reviewed.  GPS for rescue vehicles and new Hub Caps will be added to the list.
