Rescue - Election of Officers was held on
Tom Roda was unanimously elected as Rescue Captain.
Monica Himes was unanimously elected as Rescue Lieutenant.
Brian Smith and Julie Cataldo Roda will continue to split the Rescue Steward’s duties.
Motion: Wolf motioned to accept the vote of the squad; Alexander seconded the motion
for discussion:
Alexander stated that he had heard thru the grapevine that Tom Roda had advised the Chief that he would accept the Rescue Captain position as long as he could answer directly to the Chief and not have to answer to the BoFE. Alexander stated he did not agree with Roda’s proposal and felt that Roda had an attitude.
Roda stated that the rumor was close. He added that he had much better luck dealing with the Chief alone and they got a lot done doing it that way. He felt the Chief could then report to the board. Roda stated he received a lot of attitude from the board about the way he did things. He continued that the board didn’t back him on the Marilyn thing and the board didn’t back him on the Joyce thing and the board didn’t back him on anything. He added that the job needed to be done and he would only do the job if he could do it through the Chief.
Alexander stated that after he was informed by Wolf of the comments made at the rescue election meeting, after Roda received the vote, he felt that Roda should be in the position of Rescue Engineer in order to understand what the board is about.
Discussion continued regarding Roda not following the chain of command and reporting back to Alexander regarding the status of the C-Med radio in Rescue vehicle 196 when the Chief was out of town. Roda advised Alexander that he was mistaken. He added that he reported back to the Chief when he returned to town.
Chief Trovato suggested a fresh start with Tom Roda as Rescue Captain. He added that he would begin attending rescue meeting and be the liaison between rescue and the board.
Wolf stated that rescue members felt a lack of representation and a lack of interest by the board of engineers towards the rescue squad.
Roda stated his concern was that the general consensus is that the rescue squad is a problem. He added that they are not a problem they are just trying to get the job done.
Fragmentation Cage set up and location discussed.

Problems with Engine 190 discussed. Chief Trovato will contact Chuck at Northeast Emergency Apparatus. The vehicle is not responding immediately when you step on the gas.
