Board of Fire Engineers
Meeting convened at 7:46 p.m.

Information on Fire Drills required at schools will be researched.
Generator at Main Station discussed. South Shore Generator reported that no cracks were found in the head gasket. Cylinders may need new sleeves. Generator will be picked up by SS Generator and trucked to their shop for repair. Approximate cost: $7250.00
New training on the use of the LIFEPAK CR Plus/Express defibrillator replacements units discussed. At present, Marilyn Monks is the departments only certified instructor. Cataldo and Goldstein have not completed their instructor training.
First Responder Training needed for department members. Captain Justin White spoke to April Silva (Instructor from Truro). White stated that Silva is willing to teach a class in Provincetown. ACLS, CPR & Heimlich Maneuver standards have changed advised White.
Rescue Squad Call System is not providing enough coverage. Very few members are interested in signing up. Lower Cape Ambulance Association has hired most of the active rescue squad members. The consensus of the squad is to change to a Pay per Call system. Board members agreed to try the Pay per Call system for one year. Captain White will inform the squad of the board’s decision.
NSTAR reimbursement of funds paid to fire/rescue members for standby at electrical pole or wire related calls discussed. Jeff Luce will be contacted again.
Third Rescue Vehicle discussed. New vehicle will be built exactly like 197. Meeting will be held with Lucien from Quality Emergency Vehicles to go over the specs.
Old Engine 194 declared surplus property it will be placed out for bids and sold to the highest bidder. Letter will be sent advising Town Manager Bergman.
Application for membership, as an Auxiliary member of Ladder 2, received from Bryan Smith.
Motion: Roderick motioned to approve the unanimous vote of the house to accept Bryan Smith; Zawaduk seconded the motion, All in favor.
Budget FY 2008 discussed.
Rescue Standby hourly pay increase discussed. Police union contract increase will be researched.
A 10% increase in pay will be requested for all fire & rescue members.
Rescue Steward’s position will be increased by $800 for the third truck plus the 10% increase.
Fire Chief’s annual salary will be increased to $25,000.
Service contract for Generator at the Main Station will be signed with South Shore Generator.
Painting exterior of Main Fire Station discussed. Possibly Building & Grounds could do the job. Board of FE will draft up the painting specs.
Ladder 192 UL Examination and Test Report will be scheduled with Middleboro Fire Apparatus. (Last tested on 6-30-2003) Also, Main cylinder needs to be rebuilt, and the main hydraulic cylinder is leaking. Ground ladders should also be tested at the same time. PolyMax (Middleboro Motors) will be contacted for a quote.
