Meeting of the Board of Fire Engineers

 

September 14, 2006

 

 

 

Meeting convened at 7:59 p.m.

Chief’s Report

 

New Rescue Vehicle specifications discussed.  Captain White will review the specs before they are placed out for bids.

 

Captains & Lieutenants meeting will be held on September 21, 2006.

 

NIMS  (mandatory) class will be scheduled in October or November.

 

First Responder class should also be scheduled. Rescue Captain Justin White will handle the training.

 

Candle will be used at a play at the High School on September 25th thru the 28th, 2006.

Chief Trovato approved the use since the candle will only be lit at the end of the play.  The Chief also informed the High School Guidance Counselor of the departments Junior Firemen program.

 

Another meeting will be scheduled to establish a Mutual Aid system to include Lower Cape Ambulance vehicles. 

 

Cairns Viper Imaging battery charger is not working.  New charger and batteries will be ordered. Repair of old charger will be researched.

 

RESCUE

 

Purchase of new 2007 ambulance discussed. 

 

New CPR standards will take effect in November.  New AED’s will be placed in service in October or November.  Captain Justin White would like to have in service training on the new AED’s prior to placing them in service.

 

House #2

 

Jamie White resigned as Steward of Ladder 192.

 

Eli Martinez and Shawn Ricard will share the Stewards duties on Ladder 192.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned to appoint Eli Martinez and Shawn Ricard as Stewards of

Ladder 192; Wolf seconded the motion; All in favor.

 

Eli Martinez is requesting reimbursement for the cost of his EMT testing.  Secretary will contact Eli for receipts for the testing.

 

Installation of Fire Alarm system for Station #5 (512 Commercial St) discussed. Cost of installation will be obtained from Intercity Alarm.

 

House #3

 

Application for membership received from Kenneth Kline (former member of #4).

 

Motion: Menangas motioned to accept the vote of the house and approve Kline as an Auxiliary member of #3, pending his physical examination; Roderick seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

Application for membership received from Bruno Ribas (his father is Luis Ribas in #1).

 

Motion: Menangas motioned to accept the vote of the house and approve Ribas as an Auxiliary member of #3, pending his physical examination; Wolf seconded the motion, All in favor.

 

House #4

 

Provincetown Bears will present the Firemen’s Association with a donation check for $10,000.

 

Fire Muster will be held on October 15, 2006.  Muster Drills will be held at the MPL.

 

Rubber Roof at Johnson Street Station needs to be glued down.  Water has been running down the pipe near the new furnace.  Captain Flores will glue down the roof.

 

The Firemen’s Association has ordered Fire Department T-shirts to sell to the public. They will sell for $20.00 each.

 

Irrigation system sprinkler heads at the Main Station have been repaired by Building & Grounds. Tony Lemme will take over the maintenance of the system.

 

 

Restoration of the 1936 American LaFrance discussed.

 

Motion: Roderick motioned that the Firemen’s Association send AJ Quirk a letter asking his intentions on completing the vehicle. He will be advised that the Association would like the project completed by January 1, 2007; Wolf seconded the motion, All in favor.
